| Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) - 1..2.. The use of CCTV for security applications Q1...It's so easy to get good quality pictures - why should anyone need a CCTV consultant? It's certainly true that modern CCTV equipment is capable of producing absolutely superb pictures, but then in the wrong hands, it's equally capable of being an almost total waste of money. The secret to successful surveillance is not as most people believe "the choice of equipment", but far more importantly, the way in which a system is applied. The CCTVCREW can offer a unique analytical approach to help produce the right strategy.
Q2...If a CCTV installer can provide free consultancy, why should I pay for a specialist? If an installer kindly offers some basic advice on the choice of equipment, in line with a clients request, everyones happy! But then if their is a fundamental flaw in the clients approach, the installer is hardly likely to cause upset and probably lose face, and the all important contract in the process. An independent consultant isn't paid to simply agree with the client, but rather to provide an accurate and detailed interpretation of what can and should ideally be achievable.
Q3...Will I need to pay for a consultant to visit the site? Probably not! The whole point about using an experienced consultancy, is to achieve a satisfactory result, whilst making significant cost savings. For many projects, detailed information in the form of site plans, drawings, photographs, videos, JPEG images, maps and background information, are normally the basics required to produce the initial Risk Assessment Survey (RAS) & System Profile (SP) documents. With particularly complex or high risk sites, one or more visits are normally considered essential, but where thousands of miles of seperation may be involved, quite obviously, this would not be practical. For many situations, most if not all of the prelimenary work can be completed from a distance. Q4...What if I need advice on my project and I'm not based in the UK? No problem! We would discuss and establish exactly what you need assistance with, and prepare an outline proposal. This would include a brief schedule, detailing stages of work, and anticipated costs. If you prefer to do some (or most) of the 'legwork' yourself, we can review all the information provided, and develop an appropriate CCTV system design at minimal cost, without even needing to know the location of the site. Q5... Are your CCTV consultancy services expensive? In practice, whilst it can prove extremely costly to employ the services of a specialist consultant on a daily basis, simply reviewing supplied material and developing a formal strategy can be surprisingly inexpensive. Obviously each case is quoted individually, but as an example, let's say that you own a detached residential property situated in a rural location, and you wish to install a comprehensive CCTV system. You could ask us to develop a design within a given budget,or leave it to us to decide what needs to be done. We can then indicate what should be implemented as a priority; and what can comfortably be improved, upgraded or phased over a period of time. Depending on the complexity of the project, consultancy fees should generally be in the order of £ 85.00 - £155.00 exc. VAT (VAT is 17.5% in the UK) US $ 175.00 - $ 285.00, or Euros 140 - 230). Quotations for most other currencies, are available on request Q6... What if I'm not happy with the design and assessment work in progress? For most clients, we insist on staged payments, so as you approve and have paid for each component of the schedule, if for whatever reason you are not happy with the most recent work produced, we simply won't charge for it.. No questions asked, just a guarantee that we are only interested in achieving quality results.
